I’m a lot like this jar; broken and put back together.

Piece by piece

Imperfect, and fragile.

Truth is, I shouldn’t be here.

I should have crumbled into pieces, beyond restoration.

Truth is, I’m undeserving of the life I have today, but God.

ONE DAY HE SAW HIS CREATION, SHATTERED ON THE FLOOR BUT THIS WAS NOT THE ENDING HE MEANT WHEN HE FORMED ME WITH HIS HANDS.

I CRIED OUT TO HIM, DESPERATE FOR ANOTHER CHANCE BUT THIS TIME, I DIDN’T WANT TO JUST EXIST, FILLING TIME & SPACE UNTIL MY BODY WOULD EVENTUALLY GIVE OUT AGAIN.

I WANTED TO EXIST FOR HIM.

WHEN CHRIST SAW ME THERE, WEEPING & BROKEN, HE LOVINGLY PICKED ME UP, PIECE BY PIECE LIKE HE HAD DONE SO MANY TIMES BEFORE.

HE GENTLY WASHED CLEAN WHAT REMAINED; REDEEMING AND RESTORING ME.

THEN, BEFORE I KNEW IT, HE HANDED ME OVER TO THE POTTER AND WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED, HE CAREFULLY, WITH INTENTION AND PURPOSE, BEGAN TO PUT ME BACK TOGETHER, PIECE BY PIECE.

THE CHOICES & MISTAKES I’VE MADE, THAT SHOULD HAVE LED TO UTTER DESTRUCTION, HAVE BECOME MY TESTIMONY; EACH CRACK REMAINING AS PROOF OF HIS MERCY ON MY LIFE.

EVERY FORGIVEN SIN, A REMINDER OF AN UNBREAKABLE LOVE THAT CAUSED HIM TO SEND HIS SON TO DIE FOR MY SINS AND YOURS, THAT WE MAY BE FORGIVEN.

The fact that I have been dead in my sin, and today, I am alive by grace; is the very reason I can hope for tomorrow with my hands raised to Heaven! It is why I can declare that the Lord saves, the Lord redeems, and the Lord restores the most broken of things!

No, God doesn’t desire a perfect vessel to be the caretaker of His light. He instead stores His treasure within our fragility and imperfection. May it then shine all the brighter for His kingdom.

DEAR GOD,

SHINE YOUR LIGHT IN ME & I WILL CARRY IT ALL OF MY DAYS.

I’LL BE A CARETAKER OF YOUR TRUTH, SHARING IT WITH ALL WHO ARE ACHING TO BE PUT BACK TOGETHER TOO.

MAY EACH CRACK IN ME, MAKE YOUR LIGHT SHINE ALL THE MORE BRIGHTER.

AMEN

“We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.”

2 Corinthians 4:7
