The chorus in one of my favorite songs, Amazing Grace by Chris Tomlin, goes like this:
“My chains are gone, I’ve been set free.My God, my Savior has ransomed me.And like a flood, His mercy rains.Unending love, Amazing grace”
And isn’t that the goodness of walking with Christ? His sacrifice afforded us the opportunity, undeserved, to start fresh, and break free.
Because of Him, we can live a new life, unmarked by the way we once lived. No longer chained down by our troubles, our choices and our sin.
Surely it can’t be for you, you might think. If God knew your secrets, your past, your addictions, your shortcomings; He would never accept you, right?
WRONG! I’m here to tell you that forgiveness and redemption are for ALL.
I know this because….
- I was once hard to love.
- I was once spiraling down a very bad road.
- I’m alive to speak of the terrible choices I’ve made.
- I have sinned and fallen short over and over again but have been forgiven over and over again.
- I was once chained down to the pain and heartache of living broken.
AND EVEN STILL….
I’ve been set free!
I’m still a sinner, but every single day His mercies are new! If His forgiveness and grace and mercy are available to me, they’re certainly available for you too!
He’s not only the way-maker, but He is the CHAIN-BREAKER, and the ONE who redeems.
He will….
- Take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it for good.
- Break the chains of addiction.
- Break the chains of sin.
- Break the chains of your past.
- Break the chains of shame.
- Break the chains of heartache.
- Break the chains of loneliness.
- Break the chain of anger.
Whatever is keeping you stuck and hurting, He will set you free from it, and cover you with a grace unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before.
His love will rescue you over and over again.
If you already know what I mean, then THAT story of how He saved you, is the story that you HAVE to share.
It’s the story that….
- Opens hearts to saving.
- Erases shame.
- Ends loneliness.
- Teaches others about a love that they may have never known before.
Your story might lead another person to asking Jesus into their life and having their chains broken too.
He brings us through the valley for HIS GLORY. So, let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
That is one of my favorite verses. I remember how hard it was for me to share my testimony as a new believer. I feared judgment, and I still felt so ashamed of my choices. But God gave me grace, and the more I did it, the easier it became. Now I love sharing my testimony that God had ordained that moment for someone specific to hear the gospel and surrender their life to a Christ. He knows who’s ready and needs to hear exactly what He’s given me to say. I just have to be obedient to share it. Thanks for this great post!
